More than 100 exotic fish and 100 moon jellyfish who resided in the six aquariums inside the FantaSea Buffet at Harrah’s Atlantic City are being relocated to the Atlantic City Aquarium now that the FantaSea has been closed.
The buffet is being replaced by the new Waterfront Buffet, which is part of the $500 million expansion taking place at Harrah’s.
Meanwhile, the fish and the six tanks are being donated to the aquarium.
According to executive director of the aquarium Jack Keith, the fish are worth approximately $28,000.
The six tanks are likely valued in the six figures.
The tanks were drained to 10 percent of capacity to allow handlers to capture the fish easily so that they could be placed into aerated coolers and transported to their new home at the aquarium, which is less than a mile away from Harrah’s.
